It’s likely going to be a while before we know who will serve as the Tennessee Vols’ starting quarterback in 2021.

UT head coach Josh Heupel isn’t in a rush to declare a winner in the four-man battle between Harrison Bailey, Joe Milton, Brian Maurer, and Hendon Hooker.

But while none of those guys know who will be starting yet, it didn’t stop Bailey, a sophomore, from stepping up as a leader this week.

The Georgia native made a veteran-like move this week and took his offensive linemen out to dinner at Longhorn.

This is the type of thing you usually see from NFL quarterbacks.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes gave his offensive linemen Rolex watches this past December, while Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson gifted his offensive linemen “scooter bikes”.

It’s clear that Bailey has the makeup to be the starting quarterback for the Vols.

But will he be able to win the job this fall?

That’s a question we’ll start to see answered in the coming weeks.
