Tennessee Vols quarterback Hendon Hooker was one of the top signal-callers in the nation this season according to 247Sports.

The national publication ranked the top 25 quarterbacks of the 2021 season and they placed Hooker at No. 15 on their list.

Here’s what 247Sports had to say about Hooker:

Hendon Hooker had a memorable season for the Volunteers, helping Tennessee get to seven wins in Josh Heupel’s first campaign. He beat out Joe Milton and didn’t look back, leading this tempo-based offense with fluidity. Part of the reason for his success is the level of confidence he has in his game.

Hooker passed for 2,567 yards and 26 touchdowns while throwing only three interceptions in his first season on Rocky Top.

With Hooker under center, the Vols had the No. 9 scoring offense in the nation this season.

The former Virginia Tech quarterback announced earlier this month that he’s planning to return to Tennessee for his final season of eligibility.

Hooker is looking to finish the season with a big win over Purdue in the Music City Bowl while giving fans a taste of what’s to come next season for the Volunteers.

“It (beating Purdue) can definitely springboard us into next year with some rhythm, some confidence as well,” said Hooker this week.

Tennessee and Purdue kick-off at 2:00 PM CT/3:00 PM ET on Thursday in Nashville. Make sure to check out the A to Z Sports live stream of the game, featuring former Vols quarterback Jonathan Crompton and Big Orange Podcast host Charlie Burris.
