A streak that spans over three decades will end for the Tennessee Vols in 2024.

Earlier this week, the SEC announced each team's eight conference opponents for the 2024 season, which will be the first year that Oklahoma and Texas are in the SEC (note: there will be no conference divisions in 2024).

Several of the Vols' rivalry games will remain in place for the 2024 season.

Tennessee will take on Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt in 2024, which means the Vols' schedule won't look much different than what fans have grown accustomed to over the years.

One game, however, will be missing from Tennessee's schedule in 2024.

For the first time since 1991, the Vols won't be playing the South Carolina Gamecocks in 2024.

Tennessee and South Carolina have played every year since 1992, with the Vols leading the series 21-10 during that timespan (UT leads the all-time series 28-11-2).

The Vols will play South Carolina in Knoxville in 2023 which means the 2024 game would've been set to take place in Columbia.

Considering Tennessee's recent run of bad luck in Columbia (the Vols have lost five of their last seven games in Columbia), UT probably won't be too sad to skip their visit in 2024.

Still, it'll certainly be strange for Vols fans — especially those under the age of 40 — to not see Tennessee take on South Carolina during the 2024 season. SEC football is rapidly changing and it's poised to look much different over the next decade.
