Tennessee Vols running back Tiyon Evans announced on Friday that he’s entering the transfer portal.

Evans, a former four-star junior college recruit from South Carolina, arrived at Tennessee last January before the Volunteers hired Josh Heupel to replace Jeremy Pruitt as the program’s head coach.

In seven games this season, Evans rushed for 521 yards and six touchdowns while battling injuries. Evans was electric when he was on the field, but he was unable to stay on the field during the last half of the season.

Evans attended Hutchinson Community College before arriving on Rocky Top. Former Vols Cordarrelle Patterson and Alvin Kamara also attended Hutchinson.

Running backs Jabari Small and Jaylen Wright should pace the Vols’ backfield in the regular-season finale against Vanderbilt on Saturday.
