The Tennessee Vols kept their recruiting momentum rolling on Thursday by landing their fourth commit in seven days.

2023 four-star athlete Cam Seldon announced his commitment to Tennessee on Thursday.

Seldon, 6-foot-1/220 lbs from Heathsville, VA (Northumberland), is ranked in 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 7 athlete in the nation and the No. 2 player in the state of Virginia. He’s also rated as the No. 104 overall player in the 2023 recruiting class.

The talented recruit committed to the Vols over Maryland and Penn State (among many others).

Here’s the scouting report on Seldon from 247Sports national recruiting analyst Brian Dohn:

Explosive in open field with high-level speed to finish plays in open field. Takes snaps at running back, quarterback and receiver on offense. Smooth athlete with ability to churn out YAC. Good ball skills. Gets off line of scrimmage well and quickly gets into route. Comfortable playing in traffic. Has speed to get behind defensive. Demonstrates ability to close on ball in the air. Willing to be physical at the top of routes and in challenging for 50-50 balls. Change of direction, burst and short-area quickness show best when playing edge or blitzing as linebacker. Impacts game in each phase. Step up in competition will be enormous after playing at smallest classification in Virginia. Has to continue to develop ball-tracking skills and show he can elevate and high-point balls in close quarters.

Seldon has elite speed — he says he can run the 40-yard dash in the 4.3 range and he’s vowed to get into the 4.2 range by the time he gets to college. He can also be used in a variety of ways, something Seldon alluded to after a visit to Tennessee earlier this spring.

“They like my ability to play receiver and then to go to running back for a few plays,” said Seldon to VolQuest back in April. “Coach (Kelsey) Pope said I’d fit into the scheme because I have that second-level burst after the catch. He said I have another gear that kicks in when I get the ball and that they need that, people who make big plays.”

Seldon’s commitment gives the Vols 15 commits to their 2023 recruiting class.
