Could Tennessee Vols wide receiver Velus Jones Jr play for the Titans in 2022?

It would be pretty cool for fans to see a former Vol head a couple of hours west to play in Nashville.

And it sounds like there's a legitimate chance it could happen.

According to A to Z Sports' Buck Reising, Jones has talked with the Titans already. And the former Vol feels like Nashville would be a great landing spot.

Jones, who transferred to Tennessee in 2020 after four years at USC, had a career year for the Volunteers in 2021. Jones caught 62 passes for 807 yards and seven touchdowns in his first (and only) season in Josh Heupel's up-tempo offense.

The concern with Jones is that he doesn't have a long history of producing. But a lot of that is circumstantial. Jones was buried on the depth chart at USC. Then he played one year under Jeremy Pruitt at Tennessee in an offense that could best be described as archaic. Jones was never set up for success until 2021.

We saw Jones' potential last season under Heupel. I think that's what NFL teams are seeing. Jones is one of the fastest prospects in the draft. And his red-zone route running was impressive at the Senior Bowl.

There's a lot there for NFL teams to like.

Jones could be a nice low-risk/high reward pick for the Titans (who have been meeting with numerous wide receivers at the combine, including Penn State's Jahan Dotson and Alabama's John Metchie), in the middle rounds of the 2022 NFL Draft.
