Titans, injuries, Saints

It is becoming a weekly occurrence at this point. The Tennessee Titans win a game against a formidable opponent. A talking head disrespects them heavily during the following morning on national television. After their win over the New Orleans Saints yesterday, this trend continued today on the Key, Jay, and Max show with Keyshawn Johnson, Jay Williams, and Max Kellerman.

The Disrespect

The "best" quote from this discussion may be from Keyshawn Johnson. "They're 8-2. They're not a real 8-2 football team." Jay Williams was in disbelief.

I'm not completely sure what that means, either. I'm not sure anyone does, actually. What makes their 8-2 record not real?

The Titans are on a six-game winning streak. Four of those wins came against likely playoff teams in the Chiefs, Bills, Rams, and Saints. The Bills and Rams are considered to be favorites among their conference as well, and the Chiefs look like they are heating up.

Overcoming Injuries

Not to mention, they are doing this while being one of the most injury-riddled teams in the NFL.

Even with the plethora of injuries, players have stepped up. That is the name of the game in football, and it is a big reason that Mike Vrabel is the front runner for Coach of the Year.

The Titans have gotten unreal production from their defensive line, and their offense has done what has been needed to close out tight games. It hasn't necessarily been pretty, but that's the NFL, especially at this point of the season.

Now, if you want to doubt their outlook going forward due to Derrick Henry's injury or questions about defensive depth? That is one thing. Although, folks have been doing that since the start of the season. The Titans continue to prove them wrong week-by-week.

Accordingly, calling their record up to this point anything other than impressive is ridiculous.
