In a move that surprised many around the league, the Tennessee Titans fired general manager Jon Robinson on Tuesday morning. The move comes two days after the Titans fell to the Philadelphia Eagles 35-10 in a game dominated by former Titan A.J. Brown.

It was an embarrassing afternoon in Philadelphia as Robinson looked on to watch Brown, who he traded on draft night in April, carve up his secondary by catching eight passes for 119-yards and two touchdowns on 10 targets.

The decision to trade Brown appears to have been the straw that ultimately broke the camel’s back when it comes to the firing of Robinson. With the Titans’ offense sputtering, in desperate need of a playmaking wide receiver, Brown’s absence has been backbreaking for Tennessee.

However, it wasn’t just the trade that led to Robinson’s demise – apparently there were a lot of decisions and how Robinson executed said decisions that led to his firing.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Robinson failed to touch base with owner Amy Adams Strunk before making critical decisions.

Schefter reported this on Tuesday's edition of NFL Live. You can watch Schefter's segment, here.

“This is a situation where the owner was not particularly happy with Jon Robinson and she decided to make a change this morning,” Schefter said.

“I think everybody remembers the A.J. Brown trade. They saw the Eagles this weekend and A.J. Brown lit up the Tennessee Titans. I think the owner was not happy, not entirely happy, about not being included in a lot of conversations, and I felt like she wanted to go in a different direction.”

Robinson constructed a team that is well on its way to its third consecutive AFC South title and seventh-straight winning season. What makes the decision even more shocking is the team’s decision to give Robinson a contract extension back in February.

While Robinson has built a perennial winner in Tennessee, the team has come up short in each of its last two postseason appearances. It’s clear that Strunk has a Super Bowl standard and firing Robinson indicates he wasn’t meeting those expectations.
