The NFL world is still reverberating from the blockbuster NFL trade that just went down on Monday afternoon. And when all is said done, one former Tennessee Vols standout could be set to reap the rewards as much as anyone.

The Rams and Browns, per multiple outlets, are in the process of finalizing a trade that would send perennial All-Pro edge rusher Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns to the Los Angeles Rams.

The move will include Rams Pro Bowl edger rusher Jared Verse going to Cleveland as part of the deal. The remaining edge rusher on the Rams to play opposite Garrett? Ex-Vols standout Byron Young.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to see how this trade is going to greatly benefit Young while playing opposite the most imposing pass rusher in the NFL.

Teams will have to choose which side of the field they’re going to try to help their tackle against the Rams’ new formidable duo, and they’re going to likely pick Garrett’s side 10 times out of 10.

Young has done outstanding work in his first three years in the NFL after being selected by the Rams in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Through three seasons, he has totaled 27.5 sacks in 49 starts. Last year, he eclipsed the double-digit sack mark for the first time with 12.0 while earning his first Pro Bowl nod.

Now, with Garrett entering the fold, Young’ chances of getting back to a vaunted double-digit sack total just got a true shot in the arm. And the Rams’ hopes of taking that next step to return to the Super Bowl just went up another level as well.
