Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Josh Dobbs spent four years of his life in Knoxville playing football.
Four years isn't a very long time.
Dobbs is now in Pittsburgh, starting his third season playing with the Steelers. There's a chance he'll be in Pittsburgh longer than he was at Tennessee.
But I doubt Pittsburgh will affect Dobbs the same way Knoxville did.
Dobbs holds a reverence for Tennessee that's very evident in the way he speaks about his alma mater. The former UT quarterback told A to Z Sports' Austin Stanley on Sunday after the Steelers' preseason win against the Tennessee Titans that Tennessee is very important to him, saying "I love the Vols….they have a big part of my heart".
Just because Dobbs is in Pittsburgh doesn't mean he fails to hear from Vol fans on the regular, either.
Tennessee is a national brand. It doesn't matter where you go in the world, you're probably not far from a Vol fan.
Dobbs: "They're up in Pittsburgh…..the Vol fan base is unreal. They're everywhere."
There aren't many former Vols more beloved than Dobbs.
Tennessee's been down for over a decade. But from 2013-2016, Dobbs was a bright light during a dark time. If not for Dobbs, there aren't probably aren't any nine win seasons (like there were in 2015 and 2016) or bowl game wins.
And because of that, Dobbs will always be held in high regard by the "unreal" Vol fans that are "everywhere".
