Kim Caldwell is starting to gain some positive momentum after a rough week that saw the entire Lady Vols roster from last season depart.

After landing a shooter on Wednesday in the form of Liberty guard Avery Mills, Caldwell landed another scorer on Thursday afternoon.

According to On3 Sports’ Talia Goodman, Northern Arizona guard Naomi White has committed to Caldwell and the Lady Vols.

Lady Vols land commitment of NAU guard Naomi White, the nation’s top freshman scorer last season

According to Northern Arizona University, White, who hails from Omaha, Nebraska (Bellevue West High School), was the nation’s top freshman scorer last year at 20.8 points per game. She also led the conference in scoring, three pointers made, and three point percentage (36.5%). She also set the program record for steals in a season by a freshman with 61.

Her top performance came in a 71-58 win over Weber State. She posted 37 points on 13-24 shooting and 9-14 from beyond the arc.

So, now Caldwell has two guards who are strong three point shooters in Mills, who averages 43.8% from three, and White, who can create from outside the arc and in between.

It’s certainly a terrific start, but work remains to be done in the coming days, when Caldwell is scheduled to host a number of notable recruits, including Zamareya Jones (NC State), Laila Reynolds (Florida), and Mackenzie Nelson (Virginia Tech).
