Marshall Manning, the son of Tennessee Volunteers legend Peyton Manning, made his high school debut on Thursday night.
Marshall Manning, the son of Tennessee Vols legend Peyton Manning, made his high school debut on Thursday night.
Marshall, a freshman quarterback for Baylor School, received a couple of snaps in the second quarter against Brentwood Academy.
2027 four-star Ole Miss commit Keegan Croucher is Baylor’s starting quarterback, but Marshall is in line to start for the program as a sophomore next season.
Despite serving as Croucher’s backup, fans should expect to see plenty of Marshall this fall.
The plan is for Marshall Manning to play in every game this season
Baylor head coach Erik Kimrey told reporters after the game that he wants Marshall to see some action in every game this season.
“I want Marshall to play in every game this year,” said Kimrey. “Even if it’s just two plays like that. Hopefully, it’ll be a lot more. But we need him next year, and he needs to get ready. And you guys that have covered us before, you know I’ve always let my backups play in non-region games.”
Croucher added that Marshall is “going to be a beast.”
“That was the plan for Marshall to go in in the second quarter and kind of make his debut,” said Croucher. “The kid’s gonna be a beast. He’s just a freshman, 15 years old. He works so hard, and we have a really cool relationship. We’re hard on each other. He holds me accountable and I hold him accountable in practice. So we have a really good bond together, and it’s only going to grow. I can’t wait to watch him play in the future.”
It’ll obviously depend on how each game plays out, but it sounds like we’ll see plenty of Marshall in action this season.
I’m sure there will be a few blowout wins where Marshall gets some extended run.
