National analyst makes interesting uniform suggestion for Tennessee football that has the Vols fan base split
There aren’t many topics that split the Tennessee Vols fan base more than uniform talk. Some Vols fans want nothing but a traditional look, while other fans would like to see Tennessee spice things up from time to time.
There aren’t many topics more polarizing among Tennessee Vols fans than uniform talk.
So it should be no surprise that the Vols fan base is split when it comes to a uniform suggestion that On3’s JD PicKell made this week for Tennessee football.
On3’s JD PicKell suggests a Lady Vols uniform theme for Tennessee football
Earlier this week, PicKell took to social media to suggest that Tennessee should wear uniforms that are primarily Summitt Blue, the color featured in the Lady Vols’ uniforms and logos.
Tennessee has kind of gone down this road before, but they didn’t go all in.
In 2022, the Saturday after the Vols’ memorable win against Alabama, Tennessee wore uniforms that featured Summitt Blue accessories in a game against UT-Martin.
I love the idea of Tennessee wearing an all Summitt Blue uniform. I don’t think it’s something they should make part of their regular uniform rotation, but it would be a great tribute to the legendary Pat Summitt. And I think it would look pretty good on the field, too.
With Tennessee moving to Adidas later this summer, maybe something that makes sense can be designed.
A perfect date to wear these uniforms in 2026 would be on September 19 when Tennessee hosts Kennesaw State in Neyland Stadium.
To be clear, there are no current reported plans that Tennessee ever plans to wear Summitt Blue uniforms, but it’s an idea that’s popular with at least part of the Vols fan base.
So maybe Tennessee should consider making it happen.
