Trash talking is a big part of the game of football, pretty much at any level. It’s a physical, grueling, demanding sport that spikes the energy level — and machismo — of the 22 men on the field doing battle.

As such, insults are going to fly, and on the current season of Netflix’s hit show “Quarterback”, Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield let one fly that some hardcore fans might have felt was a bit familiar.

Mayfield was mixing it up with Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Quinyon Mitchell, and he said “who the (expletive) are you, anyway?” The comment got under Mitchell’s skin, who had to be held back by Mayfield’s teammates.

An original line? Hardly. Mayfield admitted as much on the show. In fact, he credits the comment to one made by former Tennessee Vols running back Arian Foster when he was with the Houston Texans.

Bucs QB Baker Mayfield says he stole insult from RB Arian Foster on Neflix show ‘Quarterback’

“I stole that one,” Mayfield said. “I can’t take credit for that. I stole that one directly from Arian Foster back in the day.

Foster, then with the Houston Texans, barked over at a Miami Dolphins defender, “I don’t even know your name. What’s your name? Turn around, let me see your name. I don’t know you, bro,” when the Texans were near the goal line.

“So I stole that from him. Just letting a young player know that he hadn’t arrived yet,” Mayfield added.

Foster played for the Texans from 2009-2015 before, ironically, playing for the Dolphins in 2016 in his final NFL season. It’s ironic because Netflix played the clip from Foster taunting a Dolphins player with the insult that Mayfield adopted. From Miami’s uniform (which is the pre-2013 version), and given that the end zone has “Texans” in it, that appears to be from Houston’s season-opening 30-10 win over Miami.

Rocky Balboa said “great insults last a long time”, and in Foster’s case, it appears one of his more memorable quips isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
