The College Football Playoff committee isn't the most popular group of folks in sports right now (unless you're a Big 10 fan).

This year's committee has been tasked with narrowing the College Football Playoff field down to 12 teams.

That's easier said than done considering over half a dozen teams have similar resumés that warrant inclusion in the 12-team playoff. It's inevitable that some deserving teams will be left out of the playoff.

The 13 person committee is made up of former and current athletic directors, former coaches, former players, and one veteran college football reporter.

It seems reasonable to think that some programs would like to have representation on the playoff committee (so they can influence who's in and who's out).

Tennessee Vols athletic director Danny White, however, isn't interested in being on the playoff committee (at least for now).

"I haven't, guys," said White when asked by WNML's SportsTalk if he's ever served on a selection committee. "My focus has always been on the place I'm at. Trying to focus on Tennessee every single day. And trying to make sure that we're building the buildings we need to build, we're raising the money we need to raise, and investing in our programs."

I think you have to respect that approach if you're a Tennessee fan or alum. Serving on the playoff committee is a time-consuming job that is undoubtedly distracting. There are only 24 hours in a day and White wants to make sure he uses his hours to pour into Tennessee instead of being part of a charade of a selection process that is heavily tilted in favor of big brands like Ohio State and Alabama.

Maybe White changes his mind down the road. But for now, it sounds like he has no interest in being a member of the College Football Playoff committee.
