Well, it looks like the rumors are true.

The Tennessee Vols announced on Thursday that the program will wear alternate smokey grey uniforms for their season-opener against Chattanooga on August 31.

There had been rumors earlier in the week that Tennessee would wear smokey grey uniforms for the season-opener.

This will be the third version of the smokey grey uniforms that have been worn during the Josh Heupel era. Tennessee wore an "OG" version against LSU in 2022. Last season, against Austin Peay, the Vols wore the “Artful Dodger” smokey grey uniforms as an homage to legendary former Vol Condredge Holloway.

Nike will introduce another new smokey grey look in 2025 as part of a deal that was announced in 2022

Tennessee and Chattanooga will kick off at 12:45 PM ET on August 31.
