2027 5-star RB David Gabriel Georges is doing the opposite of what his family recently said he was planning to do
2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges, the Tennessee Volunteers’ top remaining recruiting target, made a decision that may surprise some fans this week.
2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges, the Tennessee Vols’ top remaining recruiting target, made a decision this week that wasn’t necessarily expected.
Well, it wasn’t expected as of a couple of weeks ago.
David Gabriel Georges reportedly cancels his official visit to Georgia
For the last several months, VolQuest’s Austin Price and Brent Hubbs have said they didn’t expect Gabriel Georges to take his official visit to Georgia on June 19.
Their reasoning was that it wouldn’t make much sense because the Bulldogs already have a commitment from 2027 five-star running back Kemon Spell.
“I don’t see Georgia bringing him in,” said Price earlier this month on 104.5 The Zone’s Ramon and Will. “Even if he intends to (visit UGA), they have Kemon Spell. I don’t think I’m rocking that boat at all if I’m Georgia. It doesn’t make any sense.”
That’s why everyone was surprised when Gabriel Georges’ uncle told On3 a couple of weeks ago that the five-star running back was still planning to visit Georgia.
“We’re going to go through with the process, and we’re going to give Ole Miss and Georgia the opportunity to make their pitch,” said Gabriel Georges’ uncle.
Plans changed on Wednesday as Gabriel Georges told Hayes Fawcett that he’s no longer taking the visit to Georgia this weekend.
“I just wanted to focus on other schools that fit what I’m looking for better,” said Gabriel Georges to On3. “Recruiting is a big decision, and I felt it was best to put my energy into the places where I see myself the most.”
Ole Miss and Ohio State are also in the mix for Gabriel Georges, but it’s the Buckeyes who are viewed as the biggest threat to Tennessee.
