Tennessee Vols fans heard exactly what they wanted to hear about David Gabriel Georges’ recruitment
The Tennessee Volunteers appear to be surging in the recruiting battle for 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges. Ohio State is the Vols’ top competition for the coveted recruit.
We’re not quite in the home stretch of 2027 five-star running back David Gabriel Georges’ recruitment, but we’re getting close.
The five-star recruit recently took official visits to Ohio State and Tennessee, and he has upcoming visits scheduled to Ole Miss and Georgia.
Gabriel Georges will then take a few weeks to make his decision before committing on July 22 (that commitment date, according to his family, won’t change).
Vols fans heard exactly what they wanted to hear after David Gabriel Georges’ visit to Tennessee
Ohio State set the bar high with Gabriel Georges’ official visit to Columbus in late May, but Tennessee responded by absolutely knocking it out of the park on the Quebec native’s official visit to Knoxville last weekend.
Tennessee brought Vols legend Alvin Kamara to town for the visit (DGG is a big AK fan), and they made sure to spend extra time highlighting the strength and conditioning program under new strength coach Derek Owings (something that’s very important to the five-star running back).
Gabriel Georges’ uncle, Jean Agenor, spoke to On3’s Steve Wiltfong this week about the visit to Rocky Top and he confirmed that Tennessee made a big move in this recruiting battle.
“Tennessee is in a good position right now… Tennessee knocked the ball out of the park, man,” said Agenor. “It was amazing. They showed us David is a need instead of a want.”
Agenor also confirmed that Tennessee and Ohio State are the two leaders in this battle, which has been the assumption for the last several months.
No decision has been made yet, so it’s unwise to make any sort of prediction for who will land Gabriel Georges.
But Agenor’s comments should end any speculation about Tennessee trailing Ohio State in this battle (which has been the popular narrative the last few days from Buckeyes fans). The Vols may not be “leading”, but they definitely aren’t trailing.
Tennessee fans felt good about where the Vols stood in this battle after seeing the images from Gabriel Georges’ visit. But Agenor’s comments give fans something solid to use as evidence of where the Vols stand entering the fourth quarter of this battle.
