Brian Callahan is reportedly set to replace Mike Vrabel as the Tennessee Titans' head coach.
Callahan spent the last five seasons as the Cincinnati Bengals' offensive coordinator under Zac Tylor. He didn't call plays in Cincinnati, but he's expected to call plays in Nashville as the Titans' head coach.
That means Callahan will likely have a setup like he experienced in Cincinnati with Taylor. While Taylor called plays, Callahan was heavily involved in the process, constantly bouncing ideas off Taylor during games.
One option to serve in that role for Callahan could be former Tennessee Vols quarterback Bo Hardegree, who most recently served as the Las Vegas Raiders' interim offensive coordinator.
Hardegree, who played at Tennessee in the mid 2000s before joining David Cutcliffe's staff at Duke as a graduate assistant, has crossed paths with Callahan before. In 2014, Callahan was an offensive assistant and Hadegree was a quality control coach with the Denver Broncos. The quarterback in Denver that season was Vols legend Peyton Manning.
Hardegree wasn't retained in Las Vegas this past week by Antonio Pierce after he was promoted from interim head coach to head coach, so he's available if Callahan wants to hire him in Nashville.
Kentucky offensive coordinator Liam Coen and former Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Thomas Brown could also be options for Callahan.
