A former Tennessee Vols quarterback has reportedly accepted an invite to Tennessee Titans rookie tryout camp after going unselected in the 2026 NFL Draft. The former Vol will look to earn a contract with the Titans.
A former Tennessee Vols quarterback will get the chance to earn a contract with the Tennessee Titans after going unselected in the 2026 NFL Draft.
According to multiple reports, former Vols quarterback Kaidon Salter has accepted an invite to Titans rookie camp.
Salter, a former four-star recruit, signed with Tennessee on December 16, 2020, just a few weeks before Jeremy Pruitt was fired as the Vols’ head coach.
The Texas native never played a snap for the Volunteers. Salter was suspended by head coach Josh Heupel — just before Heupel’s first spring practice at Tennessee — for a drug related offense.
Salter was dismissed from the program later that summer after he ran into trouble again shortly after getting reinstated to the team. He then transferred to Liberty, where he spent four seasons before wrapping up his college career at Colorado in 2025.
Salter’s best season came in 2023 when he passed for 2,876 yards and 32 touchdowns while also rushing for 1,089 yards and 12 touchdowns.
It won’t be easy for Salter to earn a role with the Titans. Cam Ward is obviously the starter in Nashville, and the Titans also have Mitch Trubisky, Will Levis, and former Vol Hendon Hooker on the roster (Hooker was at Tennessee during Salter’s five months with the program).
