Tennessee Vols reportedly among the final schools for a coveted transfer guard
Rick Barnes and the Tennessee Vols are looking to land some elite talent out of the NCAA transfer portal this offseason. The Vols are committed to building a championship roster for the 2026-27 season.
Rick Barnes and the Tennessee Vols are reportedly among the final three schools for a coveted transfer guard.
According to CBS Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, the Vols are in the final three for Notre Dame transfer guard Jalen Haralson.
The Ohio State Buckeyes and North Carolina Tar Heels are the other two schools in Haralson’s final three.
Haralson, 6-foot-7/220 pounds from Anderson, IN, averaged 16.2 PPG and 4.0 RPG as a true freshman last season. He has three seasons of eligibility remaining.
“When I first got the job here, from a recruiting perspective, immediately Jalen was a top target for us,” said Notre Dame head coach Micah Shrewsberry of Haralson last year. “Jalen was someone who we knew was an elite player and a great kid as well. His combination of size, athleticism, passing ability, and versatility have long made him one of the top players in his class nationally, and given him the ability to represent the country with USA Basketball.”
The former five-star recruit is rated by 247Sports as the No. 23 overall player currently in the transfer portal.
“Jalen Haralson provides a massive 6-foot-7, 220-pound lead guard who is always looking to punish defenders with downhill, slippery drives,” noted 247Sports’ Isaac Trotter. “Haralson can use pick-and-rolls or backdowns to matchup hunt and go to work, but he may be more fit-dependent. The shooting is MIA, as of now. Haralson shot just 5-for-25 from 3-point range last season.”
Haralson played in 27 games for Notre Dame last season with 23 starts.
