Tennessee Vols true freshman wide receiver Travis Smith Jr made quite an impression on Monday during his first media session with reporters.

Smith, a four-star recruit from Atlanta, exuded confidence without being arrogant while speaking with reporters. The 6-foot-3 wide receiver is confident in who he is as a player while also understanding that he has a lot of learning to do.

The Georgia native isn't just confident in himself, either. Smith made it clear that he's confident in his fellow true freshmen, dropping an extremely bold quote that already has Vols fans fired up.

Smith was asked by a reporter how he enjoyed his experience at the Polynesian Bowl in January. The talented wide receiver noted that he went to the event with a couple of other Vols true freshmen. Smith then said that the group is going to win a national championship together at Tennessee.

"All I gotta say is it was fun," said Smith. "Being with the guys — a couple of guys here went with me — just building those relationships, that was the biggest thing. Because we're potentially — or really, we're going to end up winning a national championship. So just building those skills together and building our relationships, that was the biggest part. But the Polynesian Bowl, my first time being in Hawaii, it was awesome. It was cool."

Smith made it clear earlier this year that he plans to make a big impact for the Vols as a true freshman.

When asked about his goals for the 2025 season, Smith told Najeh Wilkins on a YouTube livestream in January that he plans to end the year with 1,000 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns.

"On the field, I definitely want to start," said Smith. "I want to set the bar high. I'm going to say over 1,000 yards and 10 [touchdowns]. I don't care about receptions, just throw it up. On the field, I'd say those are my goals, for real. Over 1,000 yards, 10 [touchdowns], and starting."

That's a certainly a lofty goal, but hey, what's the point of having goals if they aren't hard to reach?
