After a near-death experience, Damar Hamlin is amazingly gearing up for another season in the NFL.
On Jan. 2, the Buffalo Bills safety tackled Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins. Immediately after the play, he stood up but then immediately collapsed. CPR was performed on the field, and Hamlin was transported to the Cincinnati Medical Center by ambulance. The game was suspended due to both teams being physically shaken up.
Since then, Hamlin's recovery can only be described as miraculous with the safety making steady improvements each day. He is now preparing to play for the Bills this season.
Hamlin was in attendance at the second day of organized team activities and took part in individual drills, though he was not wearing a helmet like the majority of his teammates.
Bills GM Brandon Beane always had confidence that Hamlin would return to the field, and with no obvious limitations, he could possibly be ready for full-contact practices and games when the season begins.
Hamlin received widespread support from not only the NFL but from everyone across the world. His GoFundMe page, which was originally set up for a community toy drive, raised over $9 million.
When the Bills take the field for their first regular season, all eyes will be on Hamlin, and regardless of the team one roots for, Hamlin has surely gained a lot of fans.
