The Buffalo Bills have a lot of work to do ahead of the NFL Draft. The biggest thing is taking visits with prospective players, which Buffalo has already done in handfuls.

There are plenty of team needs entering the draft. Additionally, it’s up in the air where Buffalo will go with the first-round pick. Do they go linebacker? Do they draft a wide receiver? Will they shock everyone and take a different position of need, like defensive tackle? Nobody knows yet, which makes this time of year so exciting.

With plenty of work to do, Buffalo is doing its due diligence by bringing in multiple players for visits. The latest report is one that features perhaps the prospect with the coolest nickname in college sports, “Big Citrus.”

Buffalo Bills showing significant interest in Iowa State defensive tackle Domonique Orange

It’s been reported that the Bills have significant interest in Domonique (Dom) Orange. The Bills were one of seven teams in attendance for the Iowa State defensive tackle’s workout. Outside of attending his workout, the Bills will also be hosting Orange for a pre-draft visit.

Orange has visits lined up with the Houston Texans, Minnesota Vikings, Carolina Panthers, and the Chicago Bears.

While he’s not viewed as a pass rusher, he would immediately come in and help Buffalo’s run defense. An area that Buffalo struggled with mightily in the 2025 season, and one that Orange could help with. Buffalo ranked near the bottom of the league in yards per game allowed.

Throughout his career at Iowa State, Orange recorded 66 total tackles, seven tackles for loss, two passes defensed, and one sack. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein had a lot to say about Orange, who is a mid-round prospect. Buffalo could be the beneficiary of a hamstring injury throughout the pre-draft process that has seen his stock dip.

“Orange is a sturdy nose tackle capable of muddying the middle of the field with his first-step quickness and take-on power. His reaction time makes it hard to reach-block him in zone and he has the anchor to play landlord over the A-gaps against double-teams. He gets bounced around on contact but is excellent in recovery and winning the final phase of the rep. Orange is a non-factor as a pass rusher, but his value versus the run should attract teams.” – Lance Zierlein

Orange would be a perfect addition to the Bills’ defense

Ryan Roberts from A to Z Sports broke down what makes Orange so special. Orange isn’t without his faults, and it’s a sure thing in the NFL, no prospect is. However, if Buffalo were to take a swing and land Orange, we have a feeling that good things would happen.

“Orange is one of the more unique nose tackle prospects to come out the last couple of cycles. “Big Citrus” is a dense defensive tackle who plays with natural leverage in the run game. With his strong lower body and outstanding length, Orange can be extremely difficult to uproot in the running game. That is going to be his calling card on the next level – holding the point of attack.

“For a bigger body, Orange does flash the occasional penetration rep to cause some havoc. In the passing game, Orange’s only move is a bull rush to collapse the pocket. That is an area of the game that is a major work in progress, which is exemplified by his low sack and pressure numbers. A defense is going to draft Orange to patrol the running game, however, and anything beyond that, is, just an added bonus.” – Ryan Roberts

If Buffalo is serious about fixing one of its biggest weaknesses, this is exactly the kind of move that gets it done. Orange may not light up the stat sheet, but he does the dirty work this defense desperately needs.

Sometimes that’s what separates good teams from great ones.

With the Bills doing their homework and bringing him in for a closer look, don’t be surprised if “Big Citrus” ends up being one of the more important additions they make this offseason.
