The Chicago Bears have a massive game coming up in Week 14 against the Green Bay Packers and the implications cannot be emphasized enough. This feels like a true playoff preview and it’s been a long time since a Bears-Packers game had this kind of hype going into it.

For the Bears to pull off a win, they’re going to have to find a way to slow down the two X-factors in Green Bay and the most dangerous of the two has to be pass rusher Micah Parsons.

“There’s a number of guys that you play in the league that you have to be aware of on every snap,” Bears offensive coordinator Declan Doyle said. “He’s one of those guys. Very talented player. He’s slippery. He’s a great pass rusher. They’ll move him around.”

Moving him around means Parsons at times can be matchup against right tackle Darnell Wright, rookie left tackle Ozzy Trapilo, or even rushing from the interior and not a guy you want to single up. He’s an extremely hard player to prepare and certainly a guy everyone needs to account for. Looking ahead to Sunday’s game, Wright made it known he’s ready for what’s coming.

Matchup vs. Micah Parsons will be a huge opportunity for RT Darnell Wright

“It’s just a big opportunity,” Wright said speaking with former NFL offensive lineman Terron Armstead. “He’s a good (expletive) player. He’s knows that, everybody knows that. For me, I just think it’s an opportunity to test myself and to see what I can really do. For better or worse, we’re going to play, it’s going to happen.”

It won’t just happen on Sunday either, the Bears will travel to Lambeau this weekend and then face the Packers 13 days later on their home turf in Week 16. That’s two huge matchups in massive games that can ultimately decide not only the division but the No. 1 seed in the NFC as well.

For Wright specifically, it’s great to see how pumped up he is to go up against Parsons in those two games because it’s going to be a defining moment for his 2025 season. This year, Wright has allowed just 13 pressures and one sack against some high level pass rushers, but Parsons is different.

“He’s extremely sudden, so you can be disruptive in the run game as well as the pass game in the blink of an eye,” offensive line coach Dan Roushar said, via Kevin Fishbain. “And it’s really difficult to simulate a guy that can accelerate, change direction and become a factor, so you can watch it on film, but to actually create that is another animal.”

This year alone after arriving to Green Bay, Parsons ranks second in the NFL in sacks and third in the NFL in total pressures, via PFF. He’s been tormenting opposing offenses and has had multiple game-wrecking moments when it matters most. You have to prepare for all 60 minutes against this guy.

Wright is knocking on the door of his first career Pro Bowl nod in 2025. At the start of the week, he ranked fourth among all offensive tackles in Pro Bowl voting. Holding his own the next couple of weeks against a caliber-player like Parsons can be the icing on the cake for his resume.

“It’s going to be big,” Wright added. “It’s going to be big games and that’s what you want to play in anyways. These big huge games. It’s going to be a challenge, but that’s what it is. That’s the fun part.”
