Low-cost free agents the Chicago Bears can still look to bring in to round out the 90-man roster after the 2026 NFL Draft
The Chicago Bears’ roster sits at 85 players following the seven player draft class and the 12 UDFA signings, here are some low-cost free agents the team can consider bringing on to the 90-man roster.
The Chicago Bears head into the start of the week with 85 players on the roster following a seven player 2026 draft class and 12 undrafted free agent signings, with perhaps more to come ahead of rookie minicamp.
That means the Bears still have room for six more additions (Chicago gets an exemption for punter Tory Taylor) to finalize the initial 90-man roster going into the rest of the offseason program.
However, the Bears are still tight on cap space. Chicago restructured the contracts of TE Cole Kmet and RG Jonah Jackson to create just over $10 million in cap space, but a large chuck of that space will go toward the incoming draft class. So, here’s some low-cost free agents the Bears could explore signing.
RB Dare Ogunbowale
Running back was a back of mind position I felt like the Bears could look to add to late in the 2026 NFL Draft. No addition was made to the room outside of UDFA signing Coleman Bennett. Currently, the RB3 battle is set to be between Brittain Brown and Roschon Johnson, and both players aren’t exactly inspiring options for the role.
The ideal RB3 for this team would be someone similar to Travis Homer, who signed in free agency with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Homer played 150+ special teams snaps for Chicago in each of the last three seasons. Someone who could take over that role and more on special teams is Dare Ogunbowale.
The former Houston Texans running back was a phenomenal special teams player willing to do whatever was asked out of him. He would be a perfect culture fit for this team and be an upgrade to the RB position.
DE Marcus Davenport
The Bears, once again, failed to add any help off the edge in the draft. As things stand, Chicago plans to run it back with the same edge rushers in Montez Sweat, Austin Booker, Dayo Odeyingbo, and Shemar Turner. And before anyone starts mentioning Cam Jordan or Jadeveon Clowney, it’s not going to happen unless the Bears free up a lot more cap.
Marcus Davenport is a cheap, veteran name to watch that was once drafted by Dennis Allen while he was with the New Orleans Saints. I could see Davenport coming in as a depth piece with scheme familiarity just like D’Marco Jackson did in 2025. Recent injuries have tanked his value but it wouldn’t hurt bringing him in to see what he has in the tank.
S Ugo Amadi or Jalen Mills
The Bears added two exciting safeties this offseason in Coby Bryant and first-round selection Dillon Thieneman to upgrade the two starting positions. Veteran Cam Lewis was an underrated pickup as well that can be a versatile depth piece and Chicago also re-signed Elijah Hicks.
It’s still a light position going into the offseason and I wouldn’t be opposed to adding another safety to the mix. Ugo Amadi has a little history with DA and special teams experience. Jalen Mills is another versatile guy that can bring some fire and energy to the unit going into the summer.
