What to watch for in the Chicago Bears’ second preseason matchup on Saturday
Not only is Caleb Williams expected to sit out, but the Bears will also be without backup quarterback Tyson Bagent for Saturday’s game. Bagent suffered a hamstring injury in the preseason opener and is week-to-week and did not make the trip out to Cincinnati. That means we will likely see 38-year-old Case Keenum getting the start for the Bears and will see plenty of undrafted rookie Miller Moss as the game unfolds.
The real thing to watch for in Saturday’s game is the left tackle situation. Personally, I believe this battle is Braxton Jones’ job to lose at this point and I’ll be watching to see if he gets the start and how he does in this game. I’d also expect Theo Benedet will get plenty of action on the left side against the Bengals’ backups.
One rookie debut to watch out for is WR Zavion Thomas. Thomas missed the preseason opener due to a knee injury but was back at practice this week and looked strong in the joint practice catches passes from Keenum. Fans are eager to see the speedy third-round pick out on the field in a live game action and we might finally get that moment tomorrow.
