Bengals’ first external addition to their offseason roster comes from another professional football league
Cincinnati adds former CFL wide receiver Dohnte Meyers to the roster for the offseason.
The Cincinnati Bengals are signing CFL wide receiver Dohnte Meyers to their 2026 offseason roster.
Meyers is joining the Bengals following a recent workout with the club. Per Dan Ralph of The Canadian Press, the Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos, Miami Dolphins, and Minnesota Vikings also worked out the wideout.
The 25-year-old Meyers has played in 19 games and two playoff contests over the last two seasons for the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders. He totaled 89 receptions for 1,405 yards and nine touchdowns. He was also featured on special teams as a kickoff and punt returner during the 2025 season, racking up 319 kickoff return yards on 11 run-backs, and 94 punt return yards on nine attempts.
What the Bengals are getting in Dohnte Meyers
Meyers wasn’t just a productive receiver and returner; he was also a key component to a championship-winning team in Saskatchewan. His breakout 2025 season clearly turned heads in the NFL, and now he’s getting a shot to play at that level.
I spoke to our CFL expert, Tyler Forness, to get a little more insight into what Meyers offers.
“With the CFL window having been opened, the Bengals got one of the best available wide receivers in the league from the Grey Cup champion Saskatchewan Roughriders,” Forness said. “Meyers took a big step forward this season after the injury to star wideout Kian Schaffer-Baker. He finished second on the team in receptions and yards behind KeeSean Johnson, while leading the Roughriders in touchdowns.
“Coming back to the NFL, Meyers is likely going to slide into a role in the slot with his size at 5-10 and 190 pounds, but it’s worth noting that he played on the outside in Saskatchewan rather than slot back (inside receiver). That versatility could help him make the team and potentially step in for an Andrei Iosivas if and when he leaves in free agency down the line.”
Meyers went undrafted out of Delta State in 2023 and attended the Atlanta Falcons’ rookie minicamp as a tryout player. It was his only exposure to the NFL before his CFL career began later in the year.
Cincinnati now has him on its offseason roster in an already stacked receivers room. The Bengals have also brought back 13 of their practice squad players and six of their own free agents, including Mitchell Tinsley, since the 2025 season ended last week.
