3 free agents the Cleveland Browns can still sign to be key difference makers for the 2026 NFL season
There are still a number of players who could make sense for the Cleveland Browns to sign as free agents.
This offseason it’s crucial for the Cleveland Browns to improve their personnel on offense if they’re going to take a step forward. Through a week of free agency, the Browns have made a strong effort to do so already.
Cleveland signed two new offensive line starters with G Zion Johnson and G/C Elgton Jenkins. Teven Jenkins was brought back as a potential starter up front and this all came a week after the Browns traded for OT Tytus Howard from the Houston Texans.
Additionally, the Browns added TE Jack Stoll, LB Quincy Williams, and DT Kalia Davis as free agents. While the majority of top-flight difference makers are gone in free agency, a few players are still out there who could make sense for Cleveland to bring in.
WR Jauan Jennings
The Browns haven’t added any wide receivers in free agency and it’s an area they badly need to improve. Cleveland looks like they’ll do work at the position in the upcoming 2026 NFL Draft, which is deep at the wideout spot. Still, adding a proven veteran option should be there at the right price.
Jennings is still available coming off a season where he had 55 catches for 643 receiving yards and nine touchdowns with the San Francisco 49ers. Jennings had 975 receiving yards in 2024, but had traditionally been a second-to-third option. He’d be an upgrade to what the Browns have outside of Jerry Jeudy.
LT Taylor Decker
Decker was thought to be weighing retirement before deciding to return for the 2026 season with the Detroit Lions. The Lions ended up cutting their long-time left tackle and now he’s the top available left tackle. Decker is an Ohio native who then went on to play his college ball at Ohio State. Returning home for a season could make some sense.
Cleveland has four of its five offensive line points figured out. Decker could fill the left tackle spot while the Browns draft his successor in April.
CB Martin Emerson Jr.
I keep coming back to the former Brown here because he remains available and could be great depth for the Browns if he can bounce back from his Achilles injury. Emerson was a good player for Cleveland for two of his three seasons before the Achilles injury that forced him to miss all of 2025.
Cleveland has Tyson Campbell and Denzel Ward as its outside cornerbacks and Emerson isn’t fit to play in the slot. But if Emerson can return to strength, he’d be a very strong depth for Cleveland as the first guy off the bench in the defensive backfield.
