The Cleveland Browns reshaped the majority of their offensive line in free agency and have one glaring hole left to fill at left tackle. With two first-round picks in a couple of weeks, left tackle and wide receiver are two spots Cleveland will be looking to fill.

Picking at No. 6 and No. 24 leaves the Browns with the reality that they’ll likely be filling one need while hoping a certain player is around at the back half of the first round. As the draft inches closer and closer, the Browns are wrapping up visits and finalizing their draft board.

A key visitor appeared in Northeast Ohio this week.

Browns spend time with possible first-round offensive line selection

Utah offensive tackle Caleb Lomu posted a photo inside the Browns’ facilities in Berea, Ohio signaling he was taking a top-30 visit with Cleveland. Lomu and offensive tackle Caleb Lomu represent two first round talents out of Utah.

Lomu is a really good athlete who put up a 4.99 40-yard dash and 9-foot-5-inch broad jump at the NFL Scouting Combine. Lomu started as a left tackle for two seasons at Utah and is a plus pass blocker and trails a bit as a run blocker. If Lomu adds more strength to his 6-foot-6, 313-pound frame, he can be a special left tackle in the NFL.

After signing G Zion Johnson and G/C Elgton Jenkins in free agency and trading for RT Tytus Howard, Lomu could prove to be the missing piece for Cleveland’s offensive line. The Browns had to replace all five starters from the offensive line, and at least on paper, they’ve done a solid job.

Lomu is a player the Browns would look to grab in the back half of the first round. Cleveland drafting Ohio State wideout Carnell Tate or USC’s Makai Lemon in the first round early before taking Lomu would be a respectable outcome in the first round and fans would be accepting of it.

Cleveland has met with just about all of the top offensive line targets and is doing their due diligence on adding an offensive tackle. There’s no reason to be surprised if the Browns take Lomu.
