Pair of NFC teams floated as landing spots that the Cleveland Browns could trade QB Dillon Gabriel to before the season
There’s a real possibility the Cleveland Browns try to trade QB Dillon Gabriel ahead of his second season. But what NFL team could he be traded to?
The Cleveland Browns quarterback situation is going to be an interesting one to watch play out. Once again, we’re going to see the Browns work through the offseason and training camp with four quarterbacks “in the mix”. There’s going to be a point where the Browns are either trading or cutting one from the room, and it’s going to be a ride to watch play out.
Two things are for sure with Cleveland’s quarterback room. Deshaun Watson is going to be around in 2026 and the team isn’t cutting 2026 sixth-round pick Taylen Green unless he falls flat on his face in training camp. The third quarterback spot comes down to either second-year quarterbacks Shedeur Sanders or Dillon Gabriel. Sanders has to have the upper hand at this point, and Gabriel could eventually be heading out.
Two teams as potential landing spots for Browns QB Dillon Gabriel
The Browns would rather trade a quarterback than cut one if the opportunity presents itself. It’s pretty simple, getting something back for a player they invested a pick into is better than parting ways for nothing. Gabriel was a third-round pick for the Browns last year and was looked at as a reach selection. It’s widely know Gabriel was a Kevin Stefanski dart throw at the position, and he now has a head coach with no connection to him.
Bleacher Report has named the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers as two potential trade destinations for Gabriel. Atlanta makes sense from a standpoint that Stefanski is now the head coach there. If the Browns could get any draft pick for him, it’s a pretty easy decision to make the move.
Todd Monken is going to give the job to whoever gives the Browns the best chance to win football fans. With just wins in the last two seasons, the Browns must look like a team taking a step forward in 2026. When it comes down to decisions to be made for who is on the 53-man roster, I believe the Browns will end up cutting Gabriel after being unable to find a trade partner.
The rest of the offseason and training camp still have to play out and things can change. But expect Gabriel to be a common player brought up as a trade possibility in the next couple of months.
