Cleveland Browns RB Quinshon Judkins just got a serious but genuine request from a coach at Ohio State, and he’s already responded
Quinshon Judkins was a critical part of Ohio State’s national championship two years ago. Now with the Cleveland Browns, one of Judkins’ former coaches has a request for him.
Quinshon Judkins played in 14 games for the Cleveland Browns last year after having no training camp leading up to the season due to off-the-field issues. The former Ohio State running back was still a force with 827 rushing yards and seven touchdowns on the ground as a rookie.
Judkins’ rookie season was cut short due to injury a fractured fibula and dislocated ankle in Week 16 against the Buffalo Bills. The recovery has gone positive as expected and the hope is Judkins can be on the practice field for OTAs this spring in some fashion for Cleveland.
Away from the practice field in Berea, Judkins has a request to fill from his former position coach at Ohio State.
Quinshon Judkins has a new offseason take to fulfil with a request from Ohio State
“Everybody knows that I have a close relationship with all my backs ever played for me,” Ohio State running backs coach Carlos Locklyn said on Friday. “The guys came over to my house for Easter and they walked down in my basement. Now I got these jerseys of mine up. I say, alright who’s gonna be the next one? Well you know I’ve got Patrick Taylor up there, I’ve got Trey [TreVeyon Henderson], I’ve got Kenny Gainwell, and I got Bucky Irving.
“Alright yeah another thing too Quinshawn send him my jersey, I need that yeah I want to make sure I add that.”
It looks as if Locklyn will have the jersey before long, as it took Judkins no time to say he’s got his former coach taken care of.
Judkins ran for 2,725 yards in his first two college seasons at Ole Miss before he transferred to Columbus for his junior season. In 2024, Judkins had 1,060 rushing yards to go along with 14 touchdowns while splitting touches with TreVeyon Henderson. Judkins was able to become a more complete back in Columbus under Locklyn’s coaching, and the Browns selected him with the No. 36 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
In Year 2 with the Browns, Judkins will be expected to once again be the bell cow running back, and a big part of the offense as a whole. Healthy again, big things should be in store for the former Buckeyes star.
He’d better make sure he takes care of Locklyn’s request, too.
