The Indianapolis Colts have made moves this offseason, but they haven’t added an outside starter in free agency or via trade.

Their focus has been on extending two of their own in Alec Pierce and Daniel Jones and adding needed depth at multiple key spots. The fanbase sees the roster and the glaring holes that remain though. One of which is edge rusher, where the team has already lost two key contrubirors from last year in Kwity Paye and Samson Ebukam.

The Colts swung big trying to sign Trey Hendrickson, but he ultimately landed with the Baltimore Ravens. Now the fans have focused their attention on a popular trade target rumored to be available, and it appears one of their star players is also on board with the potential move.

Sauce Gardner seems to be on board with Colts fans who hope the team will trade for Vikings EDGE Jonathan Greenard

Many believe the Minnesota Vikings are shopping for edge rusher Jonathan Greenard. Greenard has spent the last two years with the Vikings after leaving the Houston Texans in free agency ahead of the 2024 season. He recorded an impressive 12 sacks and 18 tackles for loss in his first year in Minnesota, but saw his production dip due to the team’s overall struggle, along with some injury issues.

He is now healthy, and the hope is that whoever trades for the 28-year-old edge rusher would be getting the premium pass rusher he showed in 2024. Fans love the idea of trading for Greenard, but more importantly, Gardner seems to be on board with the idea.

Gardner brought up his basement yet again, something he referenced when the Colts were working to extend Alec Pierce ahead of free agency. He joked that he would lock Pierce in his basement until he signed the papers.

That joke led to Pierce ultimately getting an extension done, so it seems at least notable that Gardner has elected to bring up the same joke towards a potential trade for Greenard. Is he hinting at a possible trade, or is the corner just having fun on social media to fill time during the offseason? I guess we will have to wait to find out, but if a trade does happen, fans will likely send a thank-you to Gardner for his recruiting efforts.
