Ladies and gentlemen, after a long day of roster cuts, we’ve got a Dallas Cowboys’ 53-man roster ahead of the 2025 NFL season. At least an initial one.

The Cowboys finalized initial cuts to comply with the 53-player limit every NFL team needed to reach by Tuesday at 4 p.m. ET. You can check out the details behind every move in our cuts tracker, including the front office’s trade of backup OL Asim Richards.

More moves are sure to follow between now and Week 1’s matchup vs. the Philadelphia Eagles but for now, below are the 53 players that make up your 2025 Cowboys. Let’s dive in.

Quarterback (2)

Made the cut: Dak Prescott, Joe Milton

Though Milton settled down in the preseason finale. The Cowboys are comfortable moving on from Grier. He will be a practice squad candidate.

Running back (5)

Made the cut: Javonte Williams, Miles Sanders, Hunter Luepke (FB), Jaydon Blue*, Phil Mafah*

Seventh-round rookie Mafah made the cut but initial reports indicate it will be only for one day, as he’s expected to be placed on Injured Reserve with a shoulder injury. This way, the Cowboys avoid the risk of losing him to waivers. The plan is for him to return later in the season. Williams is the projected starter but fifth-round rookie Jaydon Blue has the potential to eat into his carries thanks to his play-making ability.

Wide receiver (5)

Made the cut: CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, Jalen Tolbert, Ryan Flournoy, KaVontae Turpin

Many fans are surprised at the cut of undrafted rookie Traeshon Holden, but it fits how the Cowboys handled him in the preseason. Jonathan Mingo was placed on Injured Reserve and will miss a minimum four games.

Tight end (3)

Made the cut: Jake Ferguson, Luke Schoonmaker, Brevyn Spann-Ford

The Cowboys going short at tight end is a sign they mean it when they say fullback Hunter Luepke will be playing tight end. Spann-Ford returned to practice Monday after suffering an ankle injury early in training camp.

Offensive line (9)

Made the cutTyler Guyton, Tyler Smith, Cooper Beebe, Tyler Booker*, Terence Steele, Brock Hoffman, Nate Thomas, T.J. Bass, Hakeem Adeniji, Ajani Cornelius*

The Cowboys traded backup Asim Richards to the New Orleans Saints for close to nothing, a sign he was going to be waived otherwise. Why was that? The current OL room tells it all: Nate Thomas beat him for the left tackle backup spot. At right tackle, sixth-round rookie Ajani Cornelius gets a roster spot. Veteran Hakeem Adeniji could return after a couple of days.

Defensive tackle (5)

Made the cutOsa Odighizuwa, Solomon Thomas, Jay Toia*, Mazi Smith, Perrion Winfrey

Preseason darling Perrion Winfrey—who captivated fans as one of the best players on the team in August by exploding off the line of scrimmage and making plays in the offense’s backfield—was told by the Cowboys this was his last chance at the NFL. His versatility will be huge for Matt Eberflus’ defense, having played the A-gap and B-gap.

Mazi Smith survives roster cuts despite a slow preseason that Brian Schottenheimer admitted featured “inconsistency.” He is one of the few candidates to play nose tackle on the team.

Defensive end / EDGE (6)

Made the cutMicah Parsons, Dante Fowler Jr., Sam Williams, Marshawn Kneeland, Donovan Ezeiruaku*, James Houston

Speaking of preseason darlings, edge rusher James Houston also made it. He caught everyone’s eyes in August by rushing the passer with a high success rate. Additionally, Schottenheimer praised his work on special teams. This is the deepest group on the Cowboys roster.

Linebacker (5)

Made the cutMarist Liufau, Jack Sanborn, Kenneth Murray, Damone Clark, Shemar James*

No real surprises here. DeMarvion Overshown will start the year on PUP. Meanwhile, Sanborn and Liufau appear to be in line to start and Murray isn’t far behind. Clark and James are good depth, with the latter providing upside. He’s a big time athlete but needs time to see the field better.

Cornerback (6)

Made the cutDaRon Bland, Trevon Diggs, Kaiir Elam, Caelen Carson, Zion Childress**, Andrew Booth

Trevon Diggs being back makes this group look much, much better. When healthy, I expect him and Kaiir Elam to man the outside cornerback spots while DaRon Bland returns to where his career begun: The slot.

Safety (4)

Made the cutMalik Hooker, Donovan Wilson, Juanyeh Thomas, Markquese Bell

This is a good group of safeties but no surprises at the position. I wonder if Juanyeh Thomas is able to climb up the depth chart or not.

Specialists (3)

Made the cutBryan Anger (P), Brandon Aubrey (K), Trent Sieg (LS)

Goodwin did not make the cut but is a strong candidate to be re-signed in a matter of days or be elevated from the practice squad.
