Grading the fourth round: Dallas Cowboys make three picks, including an athletic OT who could bring much-needed competition

The Dallas Cowboys added help on both sides of the ball with some swings on high-upside players. Below are our grades for each pick plus scouting reports on the newest members of the team.

The Dallas Cowboys had a busy start to Saturday with three picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. They’re class is not quite finished, as they’re set to pick again in the seventh round at No. 218.

In the meantime, we’re grading each of their fourth-round picks, with scouting insight, career projections, and more from our draft team.

Pick No. 112: OT Drew Shelton, Penn State

Don’t overlook the Cowboys taking a tackle early in Day 3. The truth is Tyler Guyton and Terence Steele haven’t been good enough to not be challenged. Shelton is not NFL-ready yet but he’s got the athleticism to start on Sundays down the road.

He’s a nice fit for Klayton Adam’s offense, which featured a lof of pulling blocks in 2025.

Scout’s take: The entire Penn State offense struggled in 2025, so much so, they fired their head coach. However, that was no Drew Shelton’s fault. Shelton was already obviously an NFL-ready tackle prior to his final season, then played perhaps his best year yet last fall. He gave up just one sack, and held up against some of the best defenses in the country, despite blocking for backup quarterbacks for much of the year. Shelton might benefit from starting out at guard, learning from some more detail-oriented tackles, then trying his hand shifting outside after a year or two. – Travis May

Pick No. 114: CB Devin Moore, Florida

The Cowboys add another cornerback in Moore, and he’s a big guy. He was projected by A to Z Sports to go in Day 2, but a very lengthy injury history likely knocked him to Saturday. He’s 22 years old but has limited experience, his best football is ahead of him.

Scout’s take: In this cornerback class, Moore stands out in a big way. He has size and length at 6-3, and is the only cornerback with Pro Football Focus grades over 80 in both run defense and pass coverage. You can ask him to do anything and he can provide it, but is best suited to play in a drop cover-3 scheme. He can be a starter on day one, but likely won’t rise above being a CB2/3 on a team. – Tyler Forness

Pick No. 137: EDGE LT Overton, Alabama

The Cowboys beef up their defensive line once again with a player that has DT/EDGE versatility. He’ll immediately help versus the run but needs to develop pass rush to be a frequent contributor in the NFL.

Scout’s take: LT Overton is one of the toughest prospects in the 2026 class. At his best in 2024, he was a dominant EDGE setter who showed true pass rush upside. In 2025, Overton dealt with injuries and regression, and overall, he’s a tweener. At 6-3 and close to 280 pounds, Overton will be a defensive tackle in some schemes and an EDGE in others. He doesn’t have elite bend or twitch, so he will have to win at the junction point with a strong bull rush.

He’s shown the capacity to do so, and against SEC tackles, but having only one calling card as a pass rusher in the NFL isn’t a great plan. If he can slim down, work on his lateral movement, and pass-rush arsenal, he’s going to be a good 3-down player. – Rob Gregson
