Dallas Cowboys OC Klayton Adams is taking a big step toward future job opportunity in the coming days
Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Klayton Adams is on the rise. And his participation in an NFL program should only help him land a head coaching gig in the future.
If the Dallas Cowboys offense remains one of the NFL’s best in 2026, you can expect offensive coordinator Klayton Adams to receive more looks as a head coach candidate.
And the upcoming week should only help him reach the ultimate coaching goal in the near future based on recent news about his participation in a key offseason event.
Cowboys OC Klayton Adams to participate in NFL accelerator program
Adams is one of 34 participants in the NFL’s overhauled “Accelerator program,” which is making its return in 2026, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Though originally focused on increasing diversity in leadership roles, the league’s focus this year is to “focus on advancing talent from underrepresented groups, while remaining open to qualified senior-level candidates of all backgrounds,” per an NFL memo via ESPN.
Adams is one of 16 coaches in the program, many of whom have received previous head coaching interest. The program, which is set to take place in the NFL Owner Meetings this week, will give the Cowboys OC access to key decision makers around the league.
Though it’s unclear how much the program will help him land a head coaching gig down the road, it’s clearly a beneficial move for him.
Below is a post from ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler listing all coaches participating in the program.
Adams’ rise tied to Cowboys offense success
Despite not calling the plays for the Cowboys offense, Adams led an impressive effort to overhaul their run game. His contributions didn’t stop there, as he also played a major role in the passing game.
Considered one of the biggest rising names in the coaching ranks, the interest in Adams isn’t going away any time soon. And ahead of another season working with Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and George Pickens, it wouldn’t be a major surprise if his stay in Dallas is short lived.
