Denver Broncos reunite Sean Payton with dynamic playmaker to add to crowded position room in latest trade proposal

The Denver Broncos can solidify a key position on offense with one trade before the 2026 NFL Draft that would be a low-risk, high-reward move that could push them over the hump next season.

The Denver Broncos are looking to reload in the 2026 NFL Draft and make another deep run in the playoffs.

They have seven picks to work with, but don’t have a first-round pick after their blockbuster trade for WR Jaylen Waddle. The trade for Waddle may not be their last move before the NFL Draft, as one trade proposal suggests another move they could make.

FOX Sports proposes the Denver Broncos trade for New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara

NFL insiders expect plenty of movement before the 2026 NFL Draft, and teams could be active on the trade market. FOX Sports Senior NFL writer Ralph Vacciano wrote an article with trade proposals for every AFC team, and he had the Denver Broncos trading for RB Alvin Kamara.

“Kamara is 31, coming off the worst season of his career, and coming back from knee and ankle injuries. He also doesn’t want to leave New Orleans. But a reunion with Sean Payton and a chance to chase another championship in what could be his final NFL season might be enough to convince him to change his mind.

The Broncos have J.K. Dobbins and R.J. Harvey in the backfield, and Harvey is a decent receiver. But Kamara could give the offense an added passing threat, and he could thrive in a reduced role. Given his age and injuries, he also wouldn’t cost Denver more than a sixth- or seventh-round pick.” – Ralph Vacciano, FOX Sports

Vacciano has the Denver Broncos trading a 2026 seventh-round pick (No. 246 overall) and a 2027 seventh-round pick for Kamara, and that would be a no-brainer for Sean Payton.

Sorting out the Denver Broncos RB room

The Denver Broncos have a crowded RB room with J.K. Dobbins, R.J. Harvey, Jaleel McLaughin, and Tyler Baide. Dobbins surprised last season with 772 rushing yards last season, but he had another injury they should worry about. He suffered a Lisfranc foot injury in Week 10, and those can take a long time to fully heal from.

Harvey showed a lot of promise in his rookie season in both the rushing game and passing game, and could have a much larger role in 2026. They need a reliable veteran who will be ready to play Week 1, and it’ll cost almost nothing to add Kamara. The Broncos should explore this idea to help boost the offense and solidify the RB room.
