Pro Football Focus leaves no doubt how they feel about the Denver Broncos’ free agency moves
The Denver Broncos have taken a patient approach to free agency.
The Denver Broncos haven’t had an active start to free agency, outside of re-signing a couple of their pending free agents.
Denver finished the 2025 season with the best record in the AFC, so it’s not a total shock that they’re looking to “run it back”, for the most part, in 2026.
Still, most Broncos fans would prefer to see the team operate with more urgency.
Pro Football Focus grades the Broncos’ free agency moves so far
The Broncos’ lack of outside signings in free agency led to a predictable free agency grade from Pro Football Focus this week.
PFF gave the Broncos a “C” for the moves they’ve made so far. The most consequential of which were re-signing linebackers Justin Strnad and Alex Singleton, and running back J.K. Dobbins.
The Broncos’ deal with Strnad — 3 years for $18 million — was called a “slight overpay” according to PFF’s projections.
PFF also noted that Singleton, while excellent in run defense, is a liability in coverage.
“While he’s not a standout in coverage, with PFF coverage grades below 60.0 in each of the past three seasons, he is one of the league’s best against the run, having earned an 88.5 PFF run-defense grade in 2025,” wrote PFF’s Gordon McGuinness.
It seems clear that PFF doesn’t feel like the Broncos have done enough in free agency so far, but the good news for Denver is that the offseason is far from over. The Broncos still have plenty of time to supplement an already Super Bowl-quality roster.
