Detroit Lions star Jahmyr Gibbs shows how tough he is with interesting moment after 78-yard touchdown
A dominant performance!
Jahmyr Gibbs was unstoppable in the Detroit Lions’ 24-9 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Monday night.
And there was one moment that truly showed how dangerous of a weapon the Lions have in Gibbs when he shredded the Buccaneers’ defense and put his speed on full display.
In the second quarter, Gibbs recorded a 78-yard touchdown, reaching a top speed of 22.23 mph, Next Gen Stats reports. With that, he recorded the third fastest by a ball-carrier this season, along with it being the second fastest by Gibbs.
However, it was a moment captured after that truly showed how tough the running back is.
After reaching such an insane speed and blowing past the Buccaneers, he was offered oxygen on the sidelines, but turned it down.
Gibbs finished the night, totaling 218 yards and two rushing touchdowns in the win.
Jahmyr Gibbs further etches himself in Lions franchise history
Following Gibbs’ monster showing, he further cemented himself in franchise history.
The Lions announced that Gibbs is officially the 10th player in NFL history to finish a game with at least 135 rushing yards, 80 receiving yards and two rushing TDs. The last time this was done was by Chris Johnson in 2009.
And to make matters even better, Gibbs did all this with just under five minutes remaining in the third quarter.
He also tied Billy Sims for the second-most games in franchise history with two or more rushing touchdowns, with a total of eight.
Oh but that’s not all. Gibbs became the first Detroit player since Kevin Smith in 2011 to record 200 or more scrimmage yards along with two rushing touchdowns in a single game. This makes him the seventh player in franchise history to accomplish this feat.
