The Detroit Lions have been busy holding onto some players early in free agency. On Tuesday, they got Malcolm Rodriguez set up on a new contract. Now they’re doing it with two impact depth players.

Lions plan to bring back Rock Ya-Sin on a one-year deal

Ya-Sin was such a revelation in 2025 for the Lions. He was meant to be strictly a depth guy, but once he needed to start due to injury, he shone for the Lions. You would have thought Ya-Sin was the normal, every-day starter for Detroit. He allowed just one touchdown all season and allowed a reception percentage of 51.1%.

Ya-Sin should hopefully only have to play his normal depth role in 2026. But if he has to get on the field again, he can be trusted out there.

The Lions plan to bring back quarterback Teddy Bridgewater

It was a bit of a surprise when Bridgewater didn’t join the Lions last year after coming out of retirement. The Lions did have a good thing going with Kyle Allen. As we know, Dan Campbell and Bridgewater have a very strong relationship, and having Bridgewater on staff is like having yet another quarterback coach. I would not at all see this as the Lions not looking to potentially draft a quarterback in April. That might be more on the table than ever now.
