Earlier in the offseason we suggested the possibility of Detroit Lions edge rusher John Cominsky being a possible cap casualty after a down year and his contract being a little high. It looks like he and the Lions have remedied that by agreeing to a restructure.
The Lions do a few things with this deal. They open up some extra cap space that they can use in free agency and they hold onto Cominsky without having to let him go to free up that cap space.
Cominsky did have a down year like we said earlier, but in the grand scheme of things, he can be a solid depth piece for a team that is expected to put out a near brand new defensive line in 2024. If Cominsky can get back to the 2022 version of himself, the Lions are getting a good deal here.
