The Detroit Lions are a day away from hosting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Ford Field in the divisional round of the playoffs. This is a huge game. Maybe the biggest game in Lions history. At least the biggest game in decades. The Lions made some moves on Saturday to get some reinforcements for Sunday. Here’s what they did:
Elevated Tyson Alualu from practice squad
No shocker here. The Lions really seem to like Alualu. That’s why they’ve elevated him for the fourth week in a row. He’s been a good run stopper and space eater for them on the interior of their defensive line. After his first career playoff win last week, he’s probably looking for more this week.
Elevated Jason Cabinda from practice squad
The Lions will be elevating their fullback for this one. This makes sense since the Bucs have a pretty solid run defense. An extra blocker will allow the Lions to get the run support they'll need to be multidimensional on offense in this game.
Signed Julian Okwara to practice squad
The Lions had to waive Okwara earlier in the week to add James Houston to their 53-man roster. Okwara has cleared waivers and the Lions have decided to bring him back on their practice squad. That might say something about how the Lions feel about the soon to be free agent.
