The Detroit Lions are on the cusp of having four open roster spots this week with David Montgomery, Carlton Davis, Khalil Dorsey, and Alim McNeill all going to injured reserve.

In order to fill that space, the Lions are bringing back a familiar face to help out on defense. The Lions are poaching linebacker Anthony Pittman off the Jaguars practice squad per Aaron Wilson.

The former undrafted rookie out of local Wayne State played five seasons for the Lions and after spending time with the Jaguars this year, he comes back home.

Pittman can be a big help on special teams where he was one of the team's leaders for that five years. He can also help round out a linebacker group that got torn to shreds by the Bills on Sunday.

Pittman is a good addition because he knows exactly what this team is looking for and the coaching staff likes what he can bring. He just got an opportunity to make more money and play more in Washington and Jacksonville. Ultimately it didn't work out that well in either spot. He only played one regular-season game.
