Lions’ fifth-round pick Kendrick Law tore his ACL on Tuesday and is out for the year
Lions head coach Dan Campbell opened up his Thursday press conference with the bad news for the rookie that the Lions traded for in the 2026 NFL Draft. It’s sadly somewhat of a repeat of last year, when the Lions lost sixth-round pick Dan Jackson to a season-ending injury early in the summer. These no-contact injuries are the worst.
The one silver lining here is that Law was not expected to have a very big role in 2026. The Lions signed Greg Dortch in free agency, and he’s expected to take on a lot of what Kalif Raymond did for Detroit and maybe some extra. Law was always going to have to wait in line this year. But it does put him behind the eight ball for year two.
This opens the door back up for Dominic Lovett as well. He felt someone who was in direct danger after the selection of Law. Now he has a chance to secure a spot and show he can be more than a gunner going forward.
