In their first game, the Green Bay Packers (8-8) lost to the Detroit Lions (8-8) in what at the time was their fifth straight loss. In that meeting, the Packers only scored nine points and committed three turnovers. Including a costly interception near the goal line.
Since then, however, the Packers have won five out of their last seven games. Including a current four-game win streak.
Following the Washington Commanders recent loss to the Cleveland Browns, it eliminates Washington from playoff contention. Essentially making this game a playoff game.
Win and in for Green Bay.
Turnovers may have been a real issue for the Packers in the first game, but since then have been almost absent.
Having turned the ball over 15 times from the start of the season until their first game against the Lions. To turning the ball over only seven times in the last eight weeks.
Even if the Lions are factoring in the field conditions for the game, the Green Bay Packers have solidified the majority of their overall game.
In addition to turning the ball over less, the offensive line is largely healthy, the run and pass offenses are lethal again and the defense is playing elite.
The Green Bay Packers and their fans will look back on the 2022 season and the first Lions game as the turnaround. The last game of the season they didn't look like themselves.
Starting 3-6 and finishing 9-8 with a berth in the playoffs would be a fantastic conclusion to their turnaround.
