It’s football time. On Saturday at 7 p.m. ET, the Green Bay Packers host the New York Jets at Lambeau Field for their preseason opener. It’s the first big opportunity to watch rookies like wide receiver Matthew Golden, check out impactful positional battles, and enjoy a Packers game after seven months of a long, tiring offseason.
How to watch Packers vs. Jets
The game will be nationally televised by NFL Network (and NFL+) as part of a tripleheader, right after New York Giants at Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans at Minnesota Vikings.
Local markets can also watch the game on the Packers TV Network. TODAY’S TMJ4 (WTMJ-TV) in Milwaukee and NBC 26 (WGBA-TV) in Green Bay broadcast it, as part of a list of local TV stations.
The team’s official broadcast has Kevin Harlan as a play-by-play announcer and John Kuhn as the color analyst.
Game info
Packers and Jets open their regular season on Saturday, August 9, at 7 p.m. ET. It will be Justin Fields’ first action as the Jets quarterback—and he has a long history of facing the Packers after playing for the Chicago Bears for three years.
It’s the only preseason week in which the Packers won’t have a joint practice beforehand, so the game might be a special level of importance for Green Bay to test the roster.
In the following two weeks, the Packers will have joint practices with the Indianapolis Colts and Seattle Seahawks ahead of their exhibition games.
Since Aaron Rodgers got traded in 2023, the Packers have been more willing to play starters early in preseason games. Jordan Love played all three in both of the past two years, even though it’s always just a short appearance. This year, it’ll be interesting to see how Matt LaFleur will operate, because Green Bay has four quarterbacks on the roster for the first time since Love’s rookie year in 2020—when there were no preseason games due to Covid.
