ESPN analysts dismantle growing criticism surrounding Jordan Love and praise Packers QB in revealing breakdown

Love has been one of the top quarterbacks in football since he took over as a starter in 2023, and it’s time to give him proper value.

Jordan Love has started three full seasons for the Green Bay Packers. At this point, there’s more than enough evidence to show how good of a quarterback he is. Love may not be in the Patrick Mahomes/Josh Allen conversation, but he’s right after that — and don’t listen to what the haters want to tell you on social media.

During Mina Kimes’ podcast earlier this week, she and fellow ESPN analyst Ben Solak talked about what makes Love a special player, and it’s everything you need to hear.

Jordan Love is highly efficient

Love’s ability to throw aggressively is what makes him so productive, but the overall stats are undeniable. Since he took over as a starter in 2023, Jordan Love is third in adjusted EPA/play, third in air yards, 12th in success rate, 14th in completion percentage over expectation.

And the thing is, he’s just getting better and more consistent. Last year, he was second in adjusted EPA/play, seventh in success rate, and third in completion percentage over expectation. That’s unquestionably one of the best quarterbacks in football.

NFC North QBs in adjusted EPA/play in 2025

Minimum 200 plays

  • 2. Jordan Love
  • 12. Jared Goff
  • 21. Caleb Williams
  • 36. J.J. McCarthy

And, despite having a 1-3 record in the playoffs, that’s more of a collective effort than any sign of individual performances. Since 2021, no quarterback has generated a higher EPA per dropback than Jordan Love in the entire NFL — yes, Patrick Mahomes, Matthew Stafford, and Josh Allen come right after him.

You can argue that Matt LaFleur makes him what he is, but there are also questions about the head coach and play-caller. You can argue that the receivers are good, but they are not even among the best in the NFC North.

At some point, it’s just time to admit. Despite all the pre- and post-draft criticism, Jordan Love is a fantastic quarterback. And as long as the Packers keep adding some talent around him, the team will be a realistic contender in the NFC.
