The Green Bay Packers received the best possible injury update on Thursday, ahead of the big NFC North matchup against the Detroit Lions. Quarterback Jordan Love returned to practice.
It’s a padded activity, so Love returning and moving around well is an excellent sign for his availability to play against the Lions at Lambeau Field.
Love injured his groin during the Packers win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last Sunday and missed the second half of the game. Tests on Monday indicated it’s just a strain, so if Love feels good, he will be able to play.
"Definitely I'm feeling better," Love said in the locker room after missing practice on Wednesday. "I think every day there will be some improvements to it. But definitely it feels better than it did on Sunday."
More positives
Jordan Love returning is the big one, but the Packers have more significant updates on Thursday. Running back Josh Jacobs (ankle), left tackle Rasheed Walker, and left guard Elgton Jenkins (glute) were all back at practice as well after missing Wednesday’s activity.
Negatives
However, three important pieces of the team didn’t practice once again on Thursday. The most significant is cornerback Jaire Alexander, who injured his knee against the Jaguars. It’s not a long-term injury, but his availability for Sunday is in question.
Center Josh Myers (wrist) and safety Evan Williams (hamstring) didn’t participate either.
The Packers have one more practice on Friday before the game, and that's when they release the injury designations ahead of the big matchup.
