Latest NFL news points towards the end of a nearly decade-long relationship between the Colts and fan favorite Pro Bowl corner Kenny Moore II
The Indianapolis Colts and Kenny Moore II’s nine years together are coming to an end with the news that the team is seeking a trade to find the cornerback a new home elsewhere in the NFL.
The Indianapolis Colts have had a clear directive when making moves on the defensive side of the ball this offseason. General manager Chris Ballard shared it with the world even at the scouting combine. Ballard stated that they wanted to get “Younger and faster” on the defensive side of the ball. And apparently, that means they will be saying goodbye to long-time Colts corner Kenny Moore II.
The Colts have already moved on from one of the biggest locker room leaders on the defense in Zaire Franklin. They traded the linebacker to the Green Bay Packers, and it now seems Moore II is next up for trade.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that the Colts and Moore II have mutually agreed to seek a trade.

Colts and Kenny Moore II mutually agree to seek a trade
The Colts signed Moore II after the New England Patriots released him as an undrafted free agent. He went on to make the Colts roster and even start five games as a rookie. Moore II never looked back as he has been a full-time starter ever since.
He has started 111 games during his nine years in the Indy. Moore II has become a locker room and fan favorite during his time with the franchise. Seeing his time with the Colts come to an end will definitely be a bittersweet feeling.
Moore II, when healthy, has been one of the most highly touted slot corners in the NFL. Sadly, the league hasn’t treated the position as a separate entity from outside corners. This has limited him to only one Pro Bowl. If the Pro Bowl and All-Pro rosters created a separate position for it, his individual accolades would be dramatically higher.
Even this past year, Moore II played at a high level when healthy, which should excite whoever trades for him. The Colts are looking to the future, handing the reins at Moore II’s position to 2025 third-round pick Justin Walley. The team was pleased with what they saw from the rookie during training camp. Unfortunately, his season ended before it even started, with a tragic ACL tear in joint practices with the Baltimore Ravens.
The Colts were likely to let Moore II become a free agent after the 2026 season. So now they are electing to get a head start on the process. I also expect them to do right by the beloved corner. This would entail finding him a new home that will place him in a system better suited to his skill set at this stage of his career.
