Of course, the headliner of the class was their first-round pick, Tyler Warren, the star TE out of Penn State. Landing a TE who wore 44 sends fans straight down memory lane to Dallas Clark making plays repping the horseshoe. Warren won't be able to be the next great Colts TE to wear 44, though, with defensive captain Zaire Franklin already having that on lock. So I looked at the best options Warren should consider, as well as giving the number I think he should choose.

Number Warren should choose: 84
I know 84 is currently occupied by Albert Okwuegbunam, but he is most likely just a camp body, and I don't think that should stand in the way of Warren's jersey selection. He could choose a different number and switch it after roster cuts, but a large group of fans are going to want to buy Warren's jersey ASAP, so I think it's important to get him in a jersey number he will want to stay in.
I went back and forth through a few numbers here. I think two of the three mentioned above look very clean and would get fans excited. Including my selection of 84, some may think I'm crazy for this, but I really like the idea of him wearing number 4. I have always thought single-digit jersey numbers look incredibly clean. However, the reason I ultimately landed on 84 is about the potential legacy Warren could leave behind.
Even if 44 was available, sure, it would be cool to follow in Clark's footsteps and rock the number, but then when people see the number 44, they'd see both of them. If he chose 4, Adam Vinatieri would come to mind for most fans. 84, on the other hand, isn't going to have anyone added to their ring of honor anytime soon. And you won't find many people who enjoyed watching Jack Doyle's career as much as I did. But Doyle isn't in the same stratosphere of players as Clark and Vinatieri. So if Warren chose to wear 84, he could go on to be the sole player fans think about when they see that number.
